Mother's Day: How to be sentimental (without being cheesy)
by Joyce Priddy

"Mother's day is a time to be sentimental and share time with your Mom. One of the best ways to be sentimental is to take time to flip through the family album. Talk about the fun times that you have so many pictures of. Create a new family album with your children for her to have of her grandchildren. It's a great way to be sentimental and re-connect with each other.

Write your Mom a nice poem. It can be a poem about anything. It doesn't have to be a Mother's day poem so to speak. Just knowing that you opened up and shared a poem with her will be very sentimental.

Talk about the old times and vacations that you enjoyed together. These trips make great conversation and are very sentimental. You can be sentimental and share the happy times together. There is nothing wrong with re-living the happy times.

Ask Mom to tell you about when you were born or adopted. There are very few Moms that can resist telling how you came into their lives. These are fun stories for your kids to hear about or your partner. Mom will love telling them and everyone will enjoy getting to hear them.

Opening up with feelings and sharing the past events is the best way to be sentimental on Mother's day without being cheesy. Everyone enjoys the time together and it costs you nothing."
